A good point from Linda Cantello, Giorgio Armani Global Make Up Ambassador, that this is dry lip season so why wouldn’t you opt for balmy lipsticks that deliver some actual care as well as colour? Our luck is in as far as that’s concerned with the release of the Armani Christmas Collection containing four Ecstasy Shine, a creamy, balmy formula that certainly felt melty and balmy on my lips and stayed that way for several hours. It’s not a completely weightless texture but it’s certainly silky and light and more buttery than your average balm-feel lippie.
There’s also a new Eye Quatro (£52) featuring more gentle hues than usual. It’s a play on neutral and very wearable.
The golden shade has pink tones to it and is very pretty and common to all shades is a smoothness of texture that is evident in application. It’s the kind of formula that literally glides over your lids and you barely know it’s there.
There’s a hidden under-layer that contains two applicators (I think in the past this lower compartment has contained highlighter) and of course, a mirror.
You can see that they’re nicely lustred, and the second shade up has a mossy green tint to it.
These days, lipsticks are mostly true to bullet, in that what you see in the bullet you get on the lip, but not in this case. I’m really surprised how these shades came out on my skin compared to what they look like in the actual lipstick cases. First up is Red Excess, then Nude Excess, Scarlatto Excess and Leather Excess. They’re £30 each. My favourite is Leather Excess – it’s kind of a heathered greige shade that’s fabulous with dark, kohl laden lids. You can find them HERE but there is currently no stock of the palette. You might also like to know that the lipsticks have magnets inside (to make the lids click smoothly) but that means that when I photograph them they like to huddle up together and it’s quite the job to get them just the right distance apart before they bundle back into a bunch :-).
